KID’S WOODSMAN’’S DAY.....
Kids woods day...... Wood kids day Children’’s day in the woods.....A special day designated for young kids to play with sharp, dangerous sometimes motorized objects. Hmmm......On Sunday, September 2nd, we will be holding our annual Kid’’s Woodsman’’s Day at 9:00 a.m. at south end of the stage area. (If someone can come up with a better name, I am all ears... plus a decent sized stomach). This year we will have 3 events for rug rats (and parents) of all ages, shapes and sizes. There will be a pulp toss for ages 3-17. The little kids will probably only throw a pencil but
still..... there’’s times when I see loads of wood going through town about that size. We’’ll have a log rolling contest too. This will be similar to the men’’s log rolling but maybe for a shorter distance. And we intend to have a crosscut event too. We will team up a young feller with a man on the pulp toss and crosscut.Only at the Springfield Fair. A good time, all day everyday. We want kids and adults to spend more time together so we are having Mom or Dad participate here.

Ribbons for winners. 1st - $25.00, 2nd - $15.00, 3rd - $10.00

She will shear a few critters that we supply for her. And also, she is willing to shear some animals for our other sheep exhibitors for a small fee. This promises to be informative and fun to watch and new to the ole fayuh. Edie also trim feet and will offer that service too --- sheeps feet. (Hint - none of these 3 will be wrestling.) Professional wrestling returns to Springfield. NAWA provides some of the more enjoyable wrestling entertainment in the Northeast. Will Dick & Marge Worster revive their professional wrestling tag team duo?Come and see for yourself.

Rug Braiding

2018 sees the return of local favorite - Hazel Oliver - to the pavilion. Rug braiding is another skill that, once common place, is slowly being lost.Take a few minutes to watch her at her craft.

Bonzai Trees & More
For the 2nd year in a row, Christine & Doug Currier will provide a vastarray of homemade artistry. Christine, like many of our ““crafters & artisans””, has a multitude of abilities - not the least of which is making Doug behave... well... sometimes...

Wood Turning
We are tickled to have master wood turner, Kim McNally, back with us in 2018. Kim will have her equipment set up for wood turning in the pavilion on both Saturday and Sunday. She is a member of UTWAC (Up There Wood Turners of Aroostook County). Kim will have many handmade items available for sale. Come on over to the pavilions - say ““hi””- and pick up a gift for some special occasion.

Remember to Beautify Your Junker for the Demo Derby!
When preparing your car for this year’’s derby, you may want to pay special attention
to the paint job. The best paint job at the derby will win fancy ribbons to
commemorate the artwork! You have a chance to win trophies and prize money
if you are successful, mechanically, but you also have a ““second chance”” to
win something if your car has the most interesting, creative and fun paint job.
Cars will be judged as they enter the first heat to show them off before the mud,
scratches, dings and dents take over. Please keep all design work appropriate to
a family fair.
