We'd Never Cancel A Show Because Of the Word 'Confederate'.

On July 27th, In the big city of Springfield, Maine the Historic Springfield Fairgrounds will rock to the musical hits of one of the biggest country bands of the 1980’s,1990’s and early 2000’s – Confederate Railroad. Come watch this incredible band perform their hits on the Moors Family Stage. Gates open to the public at 5:00pm (Maybe a bit early if everything is ready). Regional favorites – Midnight Rose take the stage at 6:30pm with our national headliners – Confederate Railroad taking over at 8:00pm.

Every year we bring a great country show to the area. It takes us most of the year to put an event like this together with the support from some wonderful local sponsors. Please whenever you find the opportunity thank those supportive businesses for their help. Pat’s Pizza & Billeen’s Video of Lincoln, Ware’s Power Equipment & Husqvarna, Machias Savings Bank, Gateway Tittle Company, Freightliner of Maine, Lincoln Maine federal Credit Union, Steaks N Stuff, and Robinson’s Automotive.

If you are unaware of who Confederate Railroad is – Google them.

I guarantee that you will know many of the songs. And it’s not only that they had 29 top 40 hits – they are wonderful performers. They love to play live and will mingle with their fans before and after the show. They aren’t one of those national bands who require lobsta rolls and back rubs. They’ll be eating concession food just like us. So, if you are not one the lucky folks who have won a “meet & greet” pass, come buy a burger and beer. Who knows? You may end up having a bite to eat with the lead singer.

Three hours of great music, ice cold beer, great good, and Spencer’s Homemade Ice Cream all in a fun and relaxed setting. If you want to spend the night bring a camper or tent. Overnight camping is free (There are no water, sewer, or electrical hookups). We only ask that you either have your concert ticker in hand or purchase one on your way to your campsite. Campers may arrive beginning at 12:00pm on July 27th. Contact us at www.thespringfieldfair.com for all concert information and check us out on Facebook. Recently, some of you may have noticed a monster in Illinois canceled a Confederate Railroad concert because they were concerned the word “confederate” may offend some. We can assure you that nothing like that will happen in Springfield. Seriously? We had David Allen Coe… Twice! Maybe we just breed ‘em tougher up here in Northern Maine. This political correctness stuff has completely gone off the rails. It feels like our country is sinking to the loft. We can’t move, talk, or offer an opinion without some outfit wanting to take offense. So for one night at least, leave the garbage at the door. Make the short drive to Springfield- have a burger, beer, and ice cream – listen to some great music while hanging out with friends and family while having one helluva night. We’ve done our part. We’ve booked another incredible country band. Now you do your part and pick up a ticket online or at one of these local business: Lincoln – Pat’s Pizza; Lee – Raymond’s Variety; Springfield – Smith’s store; Medway – Maryanne’s Market; Bradley – Spenser’s Ice cream, Patten – Patten Drug; Calais – Bell’s IGA; Orono – Bell’s IGA, Houlton & Presque Isle at Aroostook Milling; Danforth – Knight’s Store or online at www.thespringfieldfair.com
